The WInd Pruned Trees.

Personal Project

Illustrating the wind pruned trees that feature so heavily along the north coast and moorlands of Cornwall has become a long term personal project.

I began drawing them during my first winter living in Cornwall over a decade ago and they are a feature of the landscape I am continuously recording and revisiting as the seasons progress.

As the winter approaches they appear most prominently, their leaves long gone and a little more weathered by the relentless elements than the winter before.

Looking ahead I am planning to draw a variety of wind pruned trees around the country and coast recording them as a stark reflection of the elements that constantly shape the landscape.
